Yesterday I quickly talked about how two rivers used to pass through Old Montreal and Centre-Sud. I was intrigued by how our rivers have since been lost. It’s a real shame that we did not build around them and it makes me wonder how our neighbourhoods would look like today had we worked with nature and not against it.
Today, I found this great blog called UndergroundMontreal.com (through Spacing Montreal which is another great site) and this article in particular talks about the history of the St-Pierre river and how it was transformed over the years. Underground Montreal also goes deep under our city into sewers and what not so it’s definitely worth visiting if you ever wondered what it would be like to go down there (without permission). Check it out!
